Slow Burning beatdown disco
Italian newcomer La Tuerie seriously drops the tempo on his debut release for Amsterdam’s Sleazy Beats Recordings, coming up with four slow-burning beatdown disco and boogie tracks that are screaming out for play in sweaty basements or sun-kissed beaches.
«Midnight» sets the levels to sleazy as the strains of the Love Unlimited Orchestra’s «Midnight Groove» lift off the groove. Seriously fattened up and set to a rock-solid 4/4 disco-house rhythm, this is sure to have some serious head-nodding going on. Next up for the chop-n-loop treatment is Donna McGhee’s stupendous soul sizzler «It Ain’t No Big Thing», which appears here as «Big Things». Hot! the deal-sealer for me is «Zanzibar», which takes my favourite boogie-disco cut – Class Action’s «Weekend» – and PITCHES IT WAY DOWN, for a cosmic boogie reinterpretation. Add some well placed filtering, loops and total drop-outs, and you have a summer killer – this is MASSIVE! Last but not least is «Tatsumi». A more upbeat disco groover of unknown original. If you’re into any of the Super Value / Kolour LTD / Small World Disco Edits etc series then you’ll love this record. As usual, this is a strictly limited pressing: no repress, no digital. It’s wax or nothing!

Lips Service
Following a brief diversion to allow for the release of Dean Mereditch solo project Rhythm Odyssey, Stafford's
most productive duo are reunited for a new single. It's perhaps a little looser than their greatest work, combining
that familiar low-end throb with fuzzy vocals, maudlin pianos and scratchy guitars. While solid, it's the accompanying
remixes that offer more thrills. The real killer comes from Brummie nu-Balaeric types The Main Steam, whose
Country Fishing Trip version is a delightfully dubbed-out excursion that sounds like early Fleetwood Mac after a trip
down the Paradise Garage. Leo Zero excels, too, offering up a version that neatly draws out the original's hidden disco chops.

Onur ENGIN square edit part 1
This first release on Square features some of Onur's finest bits
indeed, kicking off with a chuggy rerub of William DeVaughn's Be
Thankful, which will work a treat on all discerning floors and has
been played all over the place by giants like Greg Wilson and Dicky
Trisco. Next up is a rather fantastic dubby rework of Diana Ross'
Brown Baby. Onur's additional drums and percussion turn this track
into headnodding fodder of the highest order. On the flip we get
two more edits: Gene Harris' As and Joaoa Donato get the Engin
treatment. Both are nice enough and will get you some beaming
smiles on the dancefloor, but it's the tracks on the A side that
will do the real damage this summer.

The Shookt - Ghost In The Machine
Lunaflicks co founder Strangefruit aka 50% of the epically awesome Mungolian Jetset teams
up with fellow Norse nu disco icon Diskjokke on this new project, The Sjukt.
Essentially translated as 'the sick', Diskjokke and Strangefruit deliver two tracks of disjointed
digital discotheque delight. "Ghost In The Machine" is the deeper moment; with a chunky
psychedelic groove, replete with rolling cowbell action, forming amidst a vacuum of spaced out atmospherics.
It's the robotic funk of "Bug In The Machine" where the partnership really excels: a satisfyingly blunt techno
stomp is aided and abetted by abrasive sounding riffs, tripped out squeaks and bleeps and extended siren drops.
